PM Skerrit extend condolences on demise of Cardinal Kelvin Felix
The demise of Cardinal Kelvin Felix, Archbishop Emeritus of Castries, Saint Lucia has deeply saddened the Government of Dominica.

Roseau, Dominica: The demise of Cardinal Kelvin Felix, Archbishop Emeritus of Castries, Saint Lucia has deeply saddened the Government of Dominica. Along with the citizens, the Prime Minister of Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit also mourned the loss of Cardinal Kelvin Felix and extended condolences to his friends and family members.
Cardinal Felix was a Dominica’s cleric who entered the priesthood in 1956 and was consecrated Archbishop in 1981. Along with that, he was also a President of the Antilles Episcopal Conference, Caribbean Conference of Churches and proclaimed Cardinal by Pope Francis in 2014.
While extending condolences, PM Skerrit reminisced about the invaluable services and contribution of Cardinal Felix to the church and for enhancing the faith and trust of people in God.
Cardinal Felix was the first Catholic priest to be ordained in Dominica and for his countless services and teachings, he was also awarded the highest honour of the island nation, Dominica Award of Honour in 1999.
“Sincerest condolences to the members of his bereaved family, the Diocese of Roseau and the Catholic community in the Caribbean,” noted PM Roosevelt Skerrit.
Cardinal Kelvin Felix was born on February 15th 1933 and his primary education was the Roseau Boys School. Following that, for his higher education, he went to Dominica Grammar School and then proceeded to Regional Seminary of St. John Vianney in Trinidad for studying priesthood.
Cardinal Kelvin Felix took retirement in 2008 and returned back to his homeland, Dominica. After reaching there, he served as parish priest of Grandbay and later Soufriere. He spent half of his life worshipping God and rendering his services for the betterment and the prosperity of citizens and now he took his last breath in Saint Lucia.
Moreover, the Member of Parliament of Soufriere Community, Denise Charles also expressed sorrow on the demise of Cardinal Kelvin Felix and stated that his sound counsel and humility will always be remembered and etched in the hearts of the people.
“A life well-lived; one of service, sacrifice, and love, Rest in Eternal Peace,” noted Denise Charles.
