Philippines places Grenada under ‘Red’ list of COVID-19

Philippines’ Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) has updated its COVID-19 risk group of countries, in which it has placed Grenada, along with other three nations, under its Red List from September 19 to 30.

Grenada: Philippines’ Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) has updated its COVID-19 risk group of countries, in which it has placed Grenada, along with other three nations, under its Red List from September 19 to 30.

The other three nations placed under the Philippines’s red list are – Papua New Guinea, Serbia and Slovenia.

The nations with a high risk of getting COVID-19 infections are placed under the red list, which also means that those nations have had more than 500 COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population in the last 28 days.

Travellers from these nations are banned from entering the Philippines unless they are Filipinos on board repatriation or special commercial flights.

Previous nations that were placed by the country under the red list from September 12 to 18 are different, which included – Azerbaijan, Guadeloupe, Guam, Israel, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Saint Lucia and Switzerland.

Nations placed under Green List includes – American Samoa, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cayman Islands, Chad, China, Comoros, Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Falkland Islands (Malvinas), Gabon, Hong Kong (Special Administrative Region of China), Hungary, Madagascar, Mali, Federated States of Micronesia, Montserrat, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Niger, Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, Poland, Saba (Special Municipality of the Kingdom of Netherlands), Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Sierra Leone, Sint Eustatius, Taiwan, Algeria, Bhutan, Cook Islands, Eritrea, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Nicaragua, Niue, North Korea, Saint Helena, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Tokelau, Tonga, Turkmenistan, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, and Yemen.

According to the statistics, so far, there are a total of 3,262 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 mutant, while around 54 people lost their lives to the deadliest mutant in Grenada island.

If we look at the COVID-19 report of the Philippines, so far, the nation reported 230,000 confirmed infections of the deadly mutant while around 36,018 people scummed to COVID-19.
