Bahamas: The Office of the Prime Minister declared that The Bahamas would receive its first batch of COVID-19 vaccines on Sunday, 7 March from India.
This first consignment consists of a donation from India’s government of 20,000 shots of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine, which is also called as the Covishield vaccine.
The vaccines were pre-qualified by the World Health Organization (WHO) and received Emergency Use Listing (EUL) approved by the WHO. The vaccines have also obtained certification from the Caribbean Regulatory System (CRS).
The donation is part of India’s commitment to donate a total of 500,000 doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine to Caribbean Community (CARICOM) islands.
Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis appreciated the government of India for the donation on behalf of the Bahamian administration and the Bahamas people.

Besides, it is the largest Biotechnological company for producing vaccines all over the world. Second position hold by the UK and prior by America’s Johnsons & Johnsons company.
Besides, Oxford Astra Zeneca is approved by the WHO; the WHO Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE) has published interim references for utilization of the Oxford-AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine (AZD1222).
