Newly appointed Netherlands Ambassador Cornelis Hersbach visits Dominica to strengthen relations
While sharing the glimpses of his visit, Prime Minister stated that it was pleasure experience for him to welcome the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Commonwealth of Dominica.

The newly appointed ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Cornelis Hersbach paid a courtesy call to the Commonwealth of Dominica. He was warmly welcomed by the Prime Minister, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit who held significant discussions, aimed at enhancing their relations.
While sharing the glimpses of his visit, Prime Minister stated that it was pleasure experience for him to welcome the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Commonwealth of Dominica. Before meeting with the Prime Minister, the Ambassador of the Netherlands met the President, Sylvanie Burton and handed over his credentials to her.
Notably, the meeting was also attended by the Minister for Finance, Economic Development, Climate Resilience and Social Security, Dr. Irving McIntyre and Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister Missi Henderson.
While shedding light on their meeting, PM Roosevelt Skerrit stated that they exchanged significant dialogues during the meeting with the primary motive of bolstering the longstanding relationship between both the nations.
“It was a pleasure to welcome His Excellency Cornelis Hersbach, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Commonwealth of Dominica,” noted PM Roosevelt Skerrit.
He stated that the Netherlands has been the valued partner and such kind of discussions and meetings with their ambassador is a testament to the collective efforts undertaken by both the countries in yielding mutual benefits and fostering greater prosperity for the citizens of both Dominica and Netherlands.
Moreover, the Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit also extended gratitude to Cornelis Hersbach for the humongous amount of support granted by them to Dominica for the recovery efforts from the Tropical Storm Erika and Hurricane Maria.
He further reiterated his commitment to strengthening the relationship between both the nations and collaborating several initiatives in order to bring overall development of both the countries.
Also, the President of Dominica, Sylvanie Burton issued a new call for greater and enhanced collaboration between the International Community and Small Island Developing States.
Her call came on Monday morning, where she lauded the newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Dominica, Cornelis Hersbach for his unwavering action and commitment towards tackling climate change.
The President stated that Dominica remains resolved working with the Kingdom of Netherlands and the rest of the global community with a vision to resolve the issues including, threats to global peace, security triggered by wars and conflicts, the lingering impact of COVID-19 pandemic, loss of biodiversity, poverty and many more.
President Burton stated that both the governments of Dominica and Netherlands are adamant to working collaboratively to address issues of climate change, ocean governance and the protection of environment as the island nation continues on its quest in becoming the first climate resilient in the world.
