Nevis: New speed bumps installed on Westbury Road
While shedding light on the upgrades made by the Nevis, the Deputy Speaker at National Assembly of St Kitts and Nevis, Latoya Biyanca Jones stated their main goal is to construct a new road for Westbury, aiming to reduce the risk of accidents and make transportation smoother and more efficient.

Nevis took a significant step towards addressing the pressing safety issue by installing speed bumps and ramps on Westbury Road with a vision to reducing accidents on roads. This initiative has been undertaken as a direct response to the major concern of the villagers regarding motorists speeding and reckless driving within the village.
While shedding light on the upgrades made by the Nevis, the Deputy Speaker at National Assembly of St Kitts and Nevis, Latoya Biyanca Jones stated their main goal is to construct a new road for Westbury, aiming to reduce the risk of accidents and make transportation smoother and more efficient.
“However, I couldn’t ignore villagers concern regarding motorists speeding and reckless driving within the village. Speed bumps/ramps were installed to address this pressing safety issue,” noted Latoya Biyanca Jones.
She also extended gratitude to Spencer R Brand and the Public Works team for their assistance and hard work in ensuring that speed bumps and ramps are properly installed.
While lauding the efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Public Works and Latoya Biyanca Jones, Premier Mark Brantley emphasized that safety is the most important concern. He added that he has also heard several complaints regarding the same issue and expressed hope that motorists will take the issue seriously and understand their responsibility to drive slowly.
“This is excellent! I too have heard the complaints so happy that something has been done and hoping that motorists drive responsibly,” Premier Mark Brantley.
Premier Mark Brantley further reiterated his commitment to make several possible efforts towards infrastructure development, aiming to tackle all the safety challenges in order to ensure a safer and securer future for all the residents and motorists.
Moreover, one of the residents of Nevis also expressed gratitude to the government through his comment under the post shared by Latoya Biyanca Jones. The netizen stated that he has initially made several complaints regarding the issue to which the authorities openly heard and solved by installing speed bumps and ramps.
The Premier asserted that the installation of speedbumps and ramps will help regulate the speed of cars travelling through a certain section of the road, tackling heavy accidents and also making it easier for pedestrians to cross the roads without any fear or difficulties.
