St Kitts and Nevis: Premier Mark Brantley of Nevis listed the blessings which the country has and extended gratitude to the God for the little paradise Nevis which has all in it to offer the best to the people of the country.
He highlighted that peace and stability are most taken for granted. To this, the Premier compared the country to some of its Caribbean neighbours or the report of war in Sudan, Congo, Gaza, Ukraine, Syria and rumours of war in other parts of the world.
“In Nevis, we are free to practice our religion, have our places of worship and glorify Jehovah, Allah, Vishnu Selassie, or whomever,” mentioned the Premier Mark Brantley.
Outlining the positive parts of Nevis, the minister mentioned that where so many of the countries record so many illegal activities, Nevis is completely a place with harmony. He added as in many countries, ordinary citizens live in fear of kidnappings, rapes, murders and other violent crimes. And, the criminal gangs and cartels control entire areas, bending the people and institutions to their will.
Not only this, there are many places where businesses cannot operate without paying protection money to criminals and so many of the places even including wealthy countries, where communities are overrun with drugs and guns and homelessness. Significantly, he shed light that all of these are alien to Nevis.
The minister added that in Nevis, the people have free and fair elections to determine the leaders. And, the country holds talk shows, newspapers, blogs, and unlimited access to social media where the people of the country are free to share their views on any matter. He even emphasized that the country has an independent court system which is free of political influence; all the citizens and officials are adherents to the rule of law.
He highlighted that there is no racial or gender discrimination in Nevis, as men and women have equal rights and spaces.
“In Nevis, we have access to jobs, to housing, to food, to education, to healthcare, to good roads, to electricity, to water and to sporting and recreational facilities,” quoted Premier Mark Brantley.
By such a statement, the Premier highlighted all the privileges the people of Nevis have which makes it an ideal place for them to live in. As along with all the amenities, the level of peace and stability and respect for human rights are in the Nevis.
“I encourage our people not to take that which we enjoy for granted. Our way of life on Nevis is worth protecting and promoting and I encourage Nevisians at home and abroad to open their eyes and recognize how truly privileged we are to call Nevis our home,” mentioned the Premier.
