Monedderlust FC wins Guyana Elite League Playoff
Monedderlust Football Club defeated Slingers Football Club by a score of 1-0 to win the title of Guyana Football Federation Elite League Promotional Playoff. The final took place on Sunday, 7 January 2024, at the Ministry of Education Ground, Carifesta Avenue.

Monedderlust Football Club defeated Slingers Football Club by a score of 1-0 to win the title of Guyana Football Federation Elite League Promotional Playoff. The final took place on Sunday, 7 January 2024, at the Ministry of Education Ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Notably, the Monedderlust Football Club took the lead at halftime only by scoring a goal. Despite the efforts of Slingers Football Club, Monedderlust managed to win the game. Monedderlust FC defeated Slingerz FC to secure their position in the KFC Elite League Season 6.
The football lovers and the people of Guyana showered their love and extended congratulations to the winners through their comments via Facebook. One person with a Facebook account named Mark Caesar commented the following: “Congratulations, team Monedderlust, on your promotion to the elite league. The only team to beat team Beacons Bartica. Respect brothers on the road.” While Alden Marslowe commented “Congratulations, Monedderlust Football Club and the Berbice Football Association.”
Moreover, in the Semi-Finals, Monedderlust Football Club defeated Beacons Football Club by a score of 4-1. The goal scorer from the winning team was Kevin Cotty, who scored a goal in the first half of the game in its 38th minute. Terrence Lowes also contributed one goal for his team. He scored a goal in the 53rd minute of the game and Tyrone Delph in the 83rd minute of the match.
Dominic Nelson of Beacons FC scored an own goal for the winning team. Meanwhile, Anthony Abrams was the only goal scorer from Slingers Football Club who scored a goal in the 33rd minute of the game.
Furthermore, Slingerz Football Club won against Winners Connection Football Club by a score of 3-0 to reach into the finals. The goal contributor of the winning team was Simeon Moore, who scored two goals for his team, one in the 26th minute of the gameplay and another in first-half stoppage time. At the same time, another goal scorer was Brian Wharton in the second-half stoppage time.
All the teams that participated in the tournament displayed their skills and tenacity, but Monedderlust Football Club came out on top of all the teams.
