Minister of foreign and CARICOM met Juan Sebastian Gonzalez Special Assistant to US president for allocation of vaccine

Today United States officials held talks with Amery Browne, Minister of foreign and CARICOM affairs related vaccines.

This meeting was to discuss on the statement that the US government would be giving 80 million COVID-19 vaccines doses globally to different countries to fight with coronavirus.            

 Mr Juan Sebastian Gonzalez, who is a special assistant to US president Joe Biden and also senior director for the western hemisphere at the White house, had discussions with Dr Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs.      

Also on the call was Dr Maureen Bartee, Senior Advisor and Director for Developing Biological Warnings at the National Security Council. The conference was a follow-up to the conference held among Dr Keith C. Rowley, PM of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and, National Security Council Staff in the White House, Dr Elizabeth Cameron, S.A to President Biden, and Senior Director for Global Health Security and Biodefense on April 19th 2021, whose outreach was an immediate result of the concerns proposed by the Prime Minister with US Congresswoman Maxine on March 25th 2021, about the passage to COVID-19 vaccines for CARICOM countries and other relevant interests.

Minister Browne started the meeting by paying gratitude from the side of Dr.  Keith Rowley, PM of Trinidad and Tobago, to Kamala Harris, Vice-President of the United States of America and her office, for the phone call that she put to him on June 3rd 2021.

 Mr Gonzalez informed that the vaccines to be allocated would be distributed through the COVAX facility primarily as well as through other initiatives.

So far, 70,825 people have received the first dose of the Oxford-AstraZe­neca vaccine, while 33,061 have received the first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine.

The ministry said 1,179 people had been fully vaccinated with the first and second doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
