Minister Marsha Henderson wishes public on World Tourism Day

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Marsha Henderson, Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, International Transport, at el wished the general public of the twin-island Federation of St Kitts and Nevis on the occasion of World Tourism Day 2023. Globally, the Day is commemorated on September 27.

The Caribbean nation joined hands with other nations across the world to celebrate and mark this important day. The Tourism Minister expressed that this is an important occasion for the country and on this, we all should celebrate the transformative power of tourism.

Minister Henderson took her official Facebook handle to wish each and every citizen and resident. She said, “Happy World Tourism Day! Greetings on this special occasion! Today, we celebrate the beauty of our world and the transformative power of tourism.”

Emphasising sustainability, locals and exploration, the Minister wrote, “Let’s embrace sustainable practices, support local communities, and rediscover the joy of exploration.”

Along with this, the Tourism Minister Marsha Henderson also shared a social media post by Kittitian Heartbeat – a tourism authority of St Kitts. The post also greeted the general public and shared a video of Marsha Henderson, the Minister of Tourism and Cam-Ron Audain, Junior Minister of Tourism, wishing the people on this occasion.

World Tourism Day: Tourism and Green Investment

The World Tourism Day is marked by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO). This year, the Day will be celebrated under the theme “Tourism and Green Investment.” The key objective behind this theme is to highlight the need for more and better-targeted investments for Sustainable Development Goals, the UN roadmap for a better world by 2030.

During this day, the world celebrates the power of exploration, discovery, and connection that travel brings to our lives.

“Global tourism is on track to return to pre-pandemic levels by the end of the year. By investing in people and projects that make a difference, we can deliver on the sector’s potential to drive growth and opportunity for all,” Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), said.
