Roseau, Dominica: Kavem Hodge scored his maiden century in the 2nd test match against England which boosted the spirit of West Indies to fight back against their opponents to tie up the score following their defeat in the first test match. His century became him the first West Indies batter to score a test ton in England since 2017.

This comeback from the Dominican players namely Kavem Hodge and Alick Athanaze made every citizen of the country elated with joy and pride. Also, the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit expressed immense pride on both the players and congratulated them for their respective accomplishments.

The Prime Minister congratulated Kavem Hodge and stated that he was extremely proud of his achievement in scoring his maiden test century against England. He stated that his performance is a testament to his unwavering commitment and dedication towards bringing laurels to their country and embracing the beauty of their national flag.

PM Skerrit also stated that Kavem’s performance stands as a phenomenal example of perseverance and dedication. Therefore, he extended heartfelt congratulations to Kavem on behalf of the government and people of Dominica.

Moreover, the Prime Minister Skerrit also congratulated other Dominican player, Alick Athanaze who scored his maiden half century and played a crucial innings of 82 runs.

Both the Dominica’s players Kavem Hodge and Alick Athanaze formed a partnership of 175 runs played a huge role in putting pressure on England as it led to West Indies scoring 351 runs with the loss of 5 wickets. Hodge scored 120 runs in 171 balls until he became the victim of Chris Woakes trap and got out.

Following his destructive and electrifying inning, the player extended gratitude to God and stated that its dream come true for him. He noted that he is extremely happy and satisfied about his performance and is always overwhelming to help the team’s cause.

The player also reacted on facing Mark Wood’s speed barrage and called it “brutal.” Kavem Hodge asserted that it’s not every day you rock up and face the player who is bowling every single ball more than 90mph. The player also narrated about the incident when he joked around Mark Wood and stated “Hey, I have a wife and kids at home.” While talking about it, the player said this made his century a lot more satisfying.

This destructive performance made by the players impressed everyone in their country who took to their social media accounts and lauded them and extended their best wishes. One person with Facebook account Tricia Kelley wrote “I was there watching the game it was absolutely amazing both of our Dominican cricketers did us proud and it was joyous seeing Kavem Hodge went on to score 120 runs. Congratulations Kavem.”
