Jamaica confirms massive increase of COVID-19 cases

Jamaica: Jamaica has confirmed 68 new cases of COVID-19 and two deaths due to this lethal coronavirus pandemic.

Ministry of Health and Wellness recent reports

Recent reports of the Ministry of Health and Wellness, a 58-year-old woman from Kingston and St Andrew and a 48-year-old woman from St Mary are the country’s latest fatalities.

Total cases are 14,487

According to health officials, the total number of covid-19 cases after adding these new confirmed cases of coronavirus is 14,487. Additionally, the total number of deaths due to covid-19 is 331

New confirmed cases

Out of newly confirmed covid-19, 68 new cases, 29 males and 39 females with ages ranging from two to 76. The lethal coronavirus cases were reported in Kingston and St Andrew and St Catherine (15 each), Clarendon (nine), Manchester (eight), St Ann and St James (six each), St Elizabeth and Westmoreland (three each), St Mary (two) and Hanover (one). Jamaica also recorded 34 recoveries making the total number of recoveries to 11,777.

The government of Jamaica is to stimulate internet services and provide gadgets to students for better education. Recently, The Ministry of Education& Youth and Information has acquired the first shipment of 5,000 laptops to be allocated to secondary students in grades 10 to 13 on the Programme of Advancement Through Health and Education (PATH).

Even, Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Holness, on behalf of the Government of Jamaica, congratulated Joe Biden on his inauguration as the 46th President of the United States of America and Kamala Harris as the first female, first black Vice President.

PM Holness wrote, “I look forward to serving with President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and the new Administration as we will maintain the vibrant partnership enjoyed between Jamaica and the United States of America.”
