Portland, Jamaica: A 52-year-old was charged with the offence of burglary and larceny on Wednesday in connection to the incident that took place on Sunday. The suspect broke into a house in Bryan’s Lane, Portland which resulted in stealing of iPhone 11.

The suspect has been identified as Wayne Harnett alias ‘Touche’, resident of Spring Bank, Port Antonio in the parish. As per the details shared by the officers, the victim left the window of his bedroom open while going to bed. At the time, a man was carrying his iPhone 11 beside him which later got stolen.

According to the reports, when the victim woke up the next morning, he was not able to find his phone anywhere. Subsequently, he conducted a thorough search and observed a piece of board on his bed leading from the window, while the mesh from the window was also found to be cut.

By observing the condition of the house, he understood that someone had illegally entered his place and therefore, he reported the matter to the police officers and informed them about the entire incident.

One person commented “What kind of sleep that person was taking, that someone entered his premises, stole his phone and he was still sleeping. I feel pity for him and why did he leave the window of his house open.”

Another person commented the following “It is really great that authorities have caught the guilty, but that victim is also wrong here. Why did he leave the window open.”
