Kingston, Jamaica: An intimate video of the woman was allegedly leaked on social media by her ex-boyfriend, which was recorded without the consent of the woman. The police have arrested and charged the accused, who is a boat captain from St James.
As per police reports, the accused was identified as a 30-year-old boat captain, Doranne Bryan. He was a resident of Palmyra Palms in Providence Heights at St James.
The reports further claimed that the private videos of the woman were posted between March 4 and 6, following his breakup in February.
The victim reported the matter to the police and recorded her statement, which claimed that her ex-boyfriend had posted her intimate videos on the social media platform, and the videos were recorded without her consent or knowledge.
She also stated that their relationship ended in February. However, Bryan used to stalk her and threaten her several times after their breakup.
Later on, she observed that her private videos were circulating on social media, which led to her approaching the police and seeking their support in the case.
Upon receiving the information, the investigating officers conducted a search for a boat captain, which led to an arrest of Bryan. He was immediately taken into the police custody.
Moreover, he was formally charged on Sunday, and his court date has yet to be finalised.
Such stances of crimes can be witnessed on every alternate day in Jamaica. A few days ago, police arrested and charged a man in Kitson Town for raping a 14-year-old teen girl. The accused was recognised as Tyrone Cooper of Cudjoes Hill at St Catherine.
As per sources, Cooper was charged with multiple charges of two counts of rape, two counts of sexual touching and sexual assault. The victim filed a case against him, claiming that she was raped by the accused on two different occasions.
He recently appeared before the St Catherine Parish Court on February 16, 2024, where the charges were read to him.
With the rising rate of such crimes in the country, the people urged authorities to implement strict surveillance and take serious steps against such criminal activities. Such conditions pose a serious threat to people, especially minors and teens in the society.
