Instagram, Facebook messenger went down for second time in a week

World: For the second time in a week, the social platforms – Instagram and the Facebook messenger went down for some of the global users on 8 October.

Although this was not massive as the global outage, which took place earlier, rather this outage was for a short time period, and the services were regained soon.

The company apologized for the inconvenience caused to people by the outage.

Instagram said in a tweet, “Things have been fixed, and everything should be back to normal now. Thank you for bearing and cooperating with us (and for all the memes this week.”

While Facebook tweeted that, “We are aware that some individuals are having trouble in accessing our apps and products. We are working to get things ‘back to normal’ as soon as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”

Earlier at the start of the week, Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp were down for six hours, after which Mark Zukerberg suffered a loss of $7 Billion.

These outages took place after a former Facebook employee – Frances Hauge, on Sunday in an interview with CBS, alleging that the company’s sites and apps are weakening the nation’s democracy, affects the mental health of girls, and leaves a negative impact on children.

Defending the company, its founder Mark Zuckerberg gave a befitting reply and cited that the recent coverage left a false image of his company. In a letter that has been made public on Facebook, the founder stated, “We care deeply about the issues such as – safety, well-being and mental health. It is difficult to see coverage that misrepresents our work and our motives.”

Instagram was all set to launch its “Instagram Kids” version of the app, but now it is put on a halt after receiving criticism globally. To which the company has stated that their purpose behind launching the app for kids have been misunderstood and misinterpreted by the people.
