India: Natural Farming to be introduced in Central Agriculture University of Imphal

Imphal, India: Beginning with the upcoming academic year, the Central Agricultural University (CAU), which has its main campus in Imphal, will incorporate natural farming into its undergraduate and graduate programmes.
On the sidelines of the three-day International Conference on “Natural farming for Revitalizing Environment and Resilient Agriculture,” which began on Friday at gorgeous premises in Iroisemba on the outskirts of Imphal, Vice-Chancellor Dr Anupam Mishra of CAU revealed this to reporters.
Dr Mishra states, “We’re going to start for undergrad and postgrad.” “That’s why we’re raising awareness and developing new agricultural techniques.” He claimed that the majority of plants naturally thrived in the Northeast and added that as water, soil, and air are all natural resources, we must care for them all in agriculture.
In the presence of the Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam, MLA Nishikant Singh Sapam, Vice-Chancellor Dr PS Pandey (RLB CAU, Pusa), Dean (College of Agriculture) Dr Indira Sarangthem, and other dignitaries, Manipur Governor Sushri Anusuiya Uikey officially opened the three-day international conference on Friday.
Speaking at the conference’s opening ceremony, Governor Uikey stated that the government had set a goal of assisting one crore farmers in adopting natural farming over the next three years. She stated that the Indian Council of Agricultural Research established a committee to develop natural farming courses and materials at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and Dr Anupam Mishra was appointed as Member Secretary.
She informed the audience that programmes like the National Agriculture Development Scheme and Indian Natural Farming System were introduced to promote natural farming.
Eight papers will be presented by scientists from eight different nations, including Thailand, Bangladesh, Germany, Russia, Singapore, and the United States, during the three-day conference, which will feature 25 main papers from experts in the field of agriculture and related disciplines.
In addition, 135 research papers will be presented in various technical sessions. Each session will also feature a poster presentation on the relevant topic; 198 posters should be on exhibit in total.
