Health Minister Deyalsingh expresses concern over people holding parties as SOE will end

The Health Minister of Trinidad and Tobago – Terrence Deyalsingh, has expressed his concern over the possibility of rising COVID cases in future, saying that he thinks the general public will start doing parties as the state of emergency is on its verge to end, which could hike up the viral infections.

He cited that, “I am deathly afraid of that because then the partying is going to start back and all of these things are going to start back, and cases would most likely skyrocket and our health care system, the parallel health care system may be overwhelmed, and we are dealing with the known Delta variant, what happens if tomorrow you hear about another variant which is more deadly what are we going to do?”

He further added that people are becoming carefree and less worried about the COVID-19 deaths, stating, “I fear that we all are becoming numb to this. If you heard there were 12 murders every day in Trinidad and Tobago, the country would be in an uproar. There will be calls for this, calls for that, the Minister of National Security must resign. We need a new Police Commissioner, we need this, we need that, but every day 12 families are plunged into mourning because of COVID-19″.

The health minister also emphasized that the majority of the people who scummed to the COVID-19 virus are those who chose not to take the vaccine. He noted that the sole way to defeat the pandemic is to get the unvaccinated individuals vaccinated.

Minister Deyalsingh added that people don’t care and think about the healthcare workers who have been doing their jobs with full dedication and tirelessly since the outbreak emerged.

“Who are we are going to hold responsible very soon if the parallel healthcare system is full and people start to die in the car park of the hospital waiting for treatment. Are you going to blame the Minister of Health?”, he questioned the general public.

With this, he once again urged the citizens to strictly follow the COVID health protocols and understand their individual responsibility to get vaccinated so that the island can defeat the contagious mutant.
