Guyana Prez meets UK PM Boris Johnson during his visit to London

Guyana: President Dr Irfaan Ali met with United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson in London, two leaders discussed several areas of mutual interest.

Guyana: President Dr Irfaan Ali, this morning, met with United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson in London.

The two leaders discussed several areas of mutual interest to both countries, including Guyana’s agriculture plan, the country’s energy potential and PM Johnson’s Coalition of Forest Alliance Initiative.

President Ali was accompanied by Tourism, Industry and Commerce Minister Oneidge Walrond and Director of Projects in the Office of the President, Marcia Nadir-Sharma. In contrast, PM Johnson was accompanied by British High Commissioner to Guyana Jane Miller (OBE).

Earlier, President Dr Irfaan Ali and members of his delegation attended a welcome dinner this evening in London.

Guyana’s High Commission hosted the dinner in London at the Royal Horseguards Hotel and the attendees by several prominent Guyanese living in the United Kingdom, including legendary cricketer Clive Lloyd; Baroness Valarie Amos; writer and broadcaster Trevor Phillips; Professor David Dabydeen; Grace Nichols; John Agard; Gina Miller and others.

Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, the Oneidge Walrond; CEO of GO-Invest, Dr Peter Ramsaroop and Director of Projects at the Office of the President, Marcia Nadir-Sharma, were present.

On April 26, 2022, President Dr Irfaan Ali arrived in London for the prestigious Caribbean Council’s House of Lords Reception and the Guyana Investment Seminar.

The Head of State was received by Lady Scott, representative to Prince Charles. En route to London, President Ali’s flight made a brief stop in Barbados, where he was welcomed by the Prime Minister, Mia Mottley.

During the visit, President Dr Irfaan Ali today delivered the feature address at the Guyana Investment Seminar at Carlton House in London, England, where he spoke about Guyana’s potential and opportunities. The event was organised by The Caribbean Council— a trade and investment membership organisation.
