Guyana: 20-year-old Brandon Henry dies in road mishap at West Coast Demerara

Guyana: A 20-year-old motorcyclist, Brandon Henry, dies in a fatal accident that took place on Sunday on the public road at Windsor Forest, West Coast Demerara. 

It is to be noted Brandon Henry is a resident of Lot 268 Crane Housing Scheme, West Coast Demerara, who was in control of motorcycle #CM 6508 at the time.

As per the reports, the motorcyclist was heading westward along the southern lane of the road at a fast speed when he lost control of his motorcycle and ended up on the parapet. As a consequence, he collided with a GPL pole at the side of the road.

The motorcyclist, Brandon Henry, was picked up in an unconscious manner by residents of the community and subsequently taken to West Demerara Regional Hospital. On reaching the hospital, the doctors on duty examined the motorcyclist and pronounced him dead.

Notably, the body is currently lying at the Ezekiel Mortuary and is waiting for a post-mortem examination. The Police officers are investigating the matter thoroughly.

Various citizens of the community took to their social media accounts to express their views and extend condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. One person with a social media account commented, “People don’t care about their lives; speed kills. Why are you all so hurry? To go where? To death’s door? The 20-year-old was gone too soon. RIP. 

Another person with a social media handle, Monique N Trevor, commented the following: “So sad, my condolences to the family so sad u gone too soon. God know the best of your life may your soul rip.”

“So sad you people need to stop the speeding on the road,” wrote Ganpattie Nandalal. 

The citizens of the nation have requested the authorities and government to take stringent measures to improve road safety and to conduct campaigns to educate the public about safe driving practices, the importance of wearing helmets and seat belts and the dangers of drunken driving and over-speeding.
