It is a significant growth for the tourism sector of Grenada, as it has witnessed a surge of 18% in the arrival of the visitors for the first half of the year compared to 2023. This surge in the arrival of visitors marks the ongoing efforts of the tourism authority towards making Grenada, a must-visit destination for all the travellers despite the challenges they faced due to Hurricane Beryl.

As per the data unveiled by the authorities, the visitors arrived in the first half of the year is 20% more in contrast to 2019. Also, in the month of July 2024, the visitor arrivals have surpassed the statistics of the last year’s. In July 2024, the arrival of the visitors increased by 10% in comparison to 2019 which is considered as the best years in terms of tourism and by 5% compared to 2023.

While shedding light on the growth in visitor arrivals, the CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority, Petra Roch, stated that they are extremely thrilled to see such positive development in the tourism sector of the country. She stated that the island nation has faced significant challenges of Hurricane Beryl, but the way the tourism officials have worked speaks volumes about their hard work and dedication towards elevating the tourism sector to greater heights.

She acknowledged all the tourism officers and stated that they have worked tirelessly in order to reassure the world and key source markets of the tri-island state’s resilience. She added that their strategic measures to maintain and grow their market share have been multifaceted.

Roch continued to talk about the development in the tourism sector and stated that they have actively engaged with their key source markets in order to meet directly with their travel and airline partners. She called all these interactions as the crucial steps towards attracting large number of visitors to the country.

Moreover, Petra Roch highlighted the dedicated and collaborative efforts of the entire tourism sector and stated that they have truly paid off. She further stated that she is very optimistic about this momentum throughout the rest of 2024 and beyond for Grenada.

She also remarked that all the officers will continue to make efforts and bring innovative ideas to bring large number of tourists to the country, benefitting the economic conditions. She added that the economic gains from the tourism sector can be used to rehabilitate the buildings or areas destroyed due to Beryl.

The Director of Intelligence and Marketing at ForwardKeysl, Olivier Ponti also appreciated the authorities of Grenada and stated that their market has shown impressive resilience as they have quickly bounced back to normal booking levels.
