Grenada to join other Caribbean nations who have nomad programme for travellers

The island of Grenada will launch a nomad programme in the month of October that will allow long term visitors to engage in remote work from the destination.

Grenada: The island of Grenada will launch a nomad programme in the month of October that will allow long term visitors to engage in remote work from the destination.

Last week, while speaking to the travel media during a press conference organised by the Caribbean Tourism Organisation – Cherisse Hamid, the new Sales and Marketing Manager for Grenada Tourism Authority, noted that the programme would be for a period of 12-months.

This programme will also have a concierge service to assist the families in settling their life on the island. Hamid added that, “We want them to come into our country with us and share their knowledge and time with us and be fully immersed in our communities. These projects could include – planting trees, Lionfish hunting, cleaning up reefs, and for medical professionals, volunteering at the health centres.

All the individuals who are entering need to be fully vaccinated and must present a negative RT- PCR test taken three days prior their arrival to Grenada. All travellers require a Pure Safe Travel Certificate.

By launching this programme, Grenada will join the other Caribbean nations such as – St Lucia, Montserrat, Dominica, Cayman Islands, Curacao, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda and Barbados. This will eventually help the island country to attract more tourists that will assist the nation in speeding the recovery process of the economy that the COVID-19 outbreak has hard hit.

Barbados was the first to initiate this concept in the region with its Welcome Stamp.

This can prove to be a ‘good step’ to enhance the tourism sector of Grenada that will assist in the development of the island country as it is one of the major income source of the nation.

According to the statistics, there are a total of 4,356 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 mutant, while a total of 75 people lost their lives to COVID-19 mutant in Grenada. The effective management of the Grenadian government has helped to press the deadliest mutant in the nation.
