Grenada shone at the CARIFTA Triathlon and Aquathlon Championships, claiming one gold and two silver medals. The championship was held at Brandons Beach and the Mighty Grynner Highway in Barbados.
The CARIFTA Triathlon and Aquathlon Championships is a competition that brings together the best athletes from across the Caribbean region and promises a weekend filled with high-energy and action-packed races. This competition gives a platform to all the local athletes to display their talent.
The winners of medals from Grenada at the CARIFTA Triathlon and Aquathlon Championships over the weekend in Barbados were Coby Sylvester and Nina James.
Coby claimed the Gold medal in the Male 20-21 age group Triathlon. On the other hand, Nina James won two silver medals for her nation in the Female 16-19 age group Triathlon and Aquathlon, respectively.
Moreover, the Award for the Most Spirited Athlete of the Championship was also bagged by Grenadian, Young Angeliner Bain. This award has been designed with a vision to recognize an athlete who exemplifies the true spirit of sportsmanship, dedication, and enthusiasm throughout the competition.
This award honours an individual who, consistently demonstrates a positive attitude, encourages fellow competitors, and embodies the values of teamwork, perseverance, and ceremony regardless of their performance.
While extending congratulations to Bain, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Grenada stated that this award claimed by him showcases his commitment to the sport and his unwavering support for all his other team mates.
The Ministry also extended best wishes to the medal winners and stated that it is a testament to their unwavering commitment and dedication towards their passion. They stated that these medals clinched by them is a source of inspiration for all other athletes who aspires to represent Grenada on an international platform.
They also recognized the other members of the team and lauded them for displaying great sportsmanship in the championship.
Moreover, the Ministry also appreciated the organizers of the CARIFTA Triathlon and Aquathlon Championships and stated that it is a great initiative by them in order to foster a strong sense of community by bringing together athletes, families, and supporters from across the Caribbean.
They added that such events play a huge role in motivating the athletes and providing them a platform to showcase their abilities, skills and techniques.
Following the exceptional display of the performances of all the athletes in CARIFTA Triathlon and Aquathlon Championships 2024, the citizens took to their social media accounts and extended best wishes.
