Barbados: Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Mottley stated almost 12,000 persons in Barbados had been vaccinated.
Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Mottley tweeted, So far, almost 12,000 persons in Barbados have been vaccinated to protect against COVID-19, with almost 3,000 vaccinated today.
Furthermore, she added, And we shall continue with vaccinations over the weekend by appointment only. #over70 #COVID19 #barbados.
This nation recorded 30 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, February 18, from the 702 tests held by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.
There is no more a backlog of specimens, and all positives were received and tested on Thursday. A total of 51 people were redeemed from the viral illness. The number of active coronavirus cases is now 789.
One person died, a 93-year-old lady with comorbidities, who passed away at the Enmore Isolation Facility. Her demise brings to 30 the number of people who have succumbed to the coronavirus.
The 30 new coronavirus cases comprised 17 females and 13 males. Three of the people had already been at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility undergoing evaluation to determine whether their positive PCR test outcome showed that they were, in fact newly positive, or whether they had coronavirus in the past and were no longer contagious.
Twenty-six of the new coronavirus cases were Barbadians, and one was a non-national. The total number of individuals recognized as positive at Her Majesty’s Prisons Dodds is 363. Of these, 361 have redeemed, and the remaining two inmates are included in the active cases.
Barbados has recorded 2,677 confirmed cases – 1,228 females and 1,449 males – and 1,858 persons have recovered. The public health laboratory has completed 119,338 tests since February 2020.
There were 2,340 persons vaccinated on Thursday as part of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19. To date, a total of 11,494 vaccinations have been administered – 5,210 men and 6,284 women.
