Four additional deaths, 214 new COVID infections reported in Barbados
Barbados reported a total of 214 new cases of the COVID-19 mutant, comprising 94 males and 120 females. So far, the island has reported a total of 11,132 confirmed cases of the deadliest mutant, according to the health ministry’s report till 10 October 2021.

Bridgetown, Barbados: Barbados reported a total of 214 new cases of the COVID-19 mutant, comprising 94 males and 120 females. So far, the island has reported a total of 11,132 confirmed cases of the deadliest mutant, according to the health ministry’s report till 10 October 2021.
As per to the report, there are 565 individuals who are in isolation facilities and 2,088 people have isolated themselves at their homes. Four additional deaths have been recorded.
Four individuals of ages 73, 80, 69 and 74 died from the virus. Two were vaccinated while the two were not.
With these additional deaths, the toll of people who scummed to contagious COVID-19 outbreak has risen to 98.
Since the pandemic started in the island country, that is – in March 2020, Barbados has reported a total of 11,132 cases (5,386 males and 5,746 females). The public health laboratory has performed 342,465 tests.
Barbados COVID-19 situation reports further states that so far, a total of 142,182 individuals have received their first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine, while a total of 112,162 individuals that is 41.4 per cent of the population, has received their second shot of the vaccine and are now fully vaccinated against the deadly virus.
Out of the 214 new cases registered, 55 out of them are under 18 years, and 159 individuals are 18 years older or above.

Prime Minister – Mia Amor Mottley, along with the health ministry, is urging the citizens to abide by the COVID-19 protocols/measures such as – wearing masks, sanitizing frequently and maintaining a social distance.
She also urged the Barbadians to take their jabs of the vaccine as soon as possible so as to decrease the chances of transmission and assist the nation in achieving its target of herd immunity.
