The calm and serene society of Blackman’s Estate of Antigua and Barbuda was disturbed sharply last week, as the decomposing body of 27-year-old Kelsi Cain, a former soldier, was discovered lying in the pool of blood.
Cain, who only got out of military service a few years ago, was last seen alive on Thursday, August 15, around 4:45 pm. His absence after that left his acquaintances worried but no one could expect the news of his death just a few hours after his disappearance.
On Friday morning at 1:15 am, police got a chilling message about a lifeless body seen lying on a back road of the local stadium area. Upon the arrival of the responding officers, Cain was discovered to be lying shirtless; he was only in colorful boxers and short jeans. Before his pulse could be stabilized, he was, sadly, pronounced dead at 2:39 am.
It is still not very clear what led to Cain’s death, but the incident was taken for investigation as brutal murder. After the former soldier had left the military, he supposedly did not take any violent actions for the couple of years. The nature of his passing being sudden and violent, the questions have been raised about what provoked this macabre outcome.
Officers say the investigation is still ongoing and therefore the people should volunteer for any clues as to what became of Cain in the few hours before his body were found. The Official Police of Antigua and Barbuda is concerned to reach anyone, who might have witnessed or heard some altercations in the vicinity by the time Cain was last seen alive or when the body was found.
This heinous act has made the Blackman’s Estate neighbourhood uneasy with several residents expressing their level of concern. The murder of the retired soldier, a man who at some stage in his life was fighting for others, only enhances the feeling of shock and sorrow.
Local detectives are encouraging anyone with anything to report even if it is just an idea as a detail, to come forward to help in their investigations in this particular case. The case still ongoing, police strive for the murder of Kelsi Cain and arrest of the culprits related to his death.
While the region is mourning this loss, the search for remedy continues as the community awaits the truth to come out soon. The remains of the soldier found, has left the residents and the law enforcement in this tragic incidence with no answer to this shocking finding.
