European Union launches Regional Food Security Programme for Caribbean
The major identities from the Caribbean and the Europe on authoritative positions are involved in the Regional Food Security Programme by the European Union.

The officials of the European Union dedicated to the Caribbean take steps for food security in the region. The European Union takes forward its Regional Food Security Programme with the help of multiple partners. The investment involved in the project is disclosed to be around nineteen million euros.
The European Union made tie-ups with multiple regional partners, including the Caribbean Development Bank, the International Trade Centre, and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture. The EU member state agencies like FIIAPP and CPVA are also named as the major partners of the programme.
The officials mentioned that the Regional Food Security Programme by the European Union is structured for four years of the period. The programme will be focused on the food system resilience and food security of vulnerable populations in the Caribbean, along with improving their livelihoods.
The intention of the dedicated project is to follow the aim of the Caribbean region to strengthen the sustainability and resilience of food systems. The general objective of the officials is also to promote the security of nutritious food for vulnerable groups.
The European Union partnered with the International Trade Centre to lead the Value Chains project. This project is dedicated to supporting agri-MSMEs, producers, and cooperatives. Under the programme, the sector will be structured to be more resilient and competitive to get better results.
The individuals and stakeholders involved will be helped to establish significant local and regional commercial alliances with the diversification of the sector. The other part of the programme is disclosed to be the SPS Project, which is in collaboration with the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture.
The SPS Project is aimed at fresh and processed products while keeping the care of sanitary and phytosanitary barriers to intra-regional trade. The project will also focus on improving and increasing the production of the products in the Caribbean region which are in demand.
It is expected that the SPS Project will help in improving food safety compliance and also to ensure harmony in the legislative framework for regional commodities. The another project is also mentioned to support the agri-MSMEs and producers which will be led by the Caribbean Development Bank.
The Regional Food Security Programme by the European Union along with the Caribbean Development Bank will help the agri producers to explore the market. The producers will also get access to the innovative technique and facilities with finance backup.
It is highlighted that the EU Member State agencies FIIAPP and CPVA will also provuide neccessry support throughout the progamme. The agencies will also play a major role with the dedicated Social Protection and Nutrition Project.

The programme will bve overseen by Felipe De La Mota, the Counsellor and Team Leader for EU Caribbean Partnership for Economic Resilience and Trade.
Along with Felipe De La Mota; L O’Reilly Lewis, the Ag Director of Projects for the Caribbean Development Bank; Teodora Diamantopoulos Fernandez, the Coordinator for EU-CaN Facility-Nourishing Futures Together for FIIAPP; and William Castro Rodriguez, the Programme Manager for International Trade Centre, along with representives of IICA are involve in the initiative.
