Elaine Thompson Herah bagged gold medals for Jamaica

Elaine Thompson Herah, the athlete from Jamaica, an island of the Caribbean, bagged a gold medal after she was announced as 100 m winner on July 31, 2021, in Tokyo Olympics.
Elaine, during the event, clocked the second-fastest time of 10. 61 seconds in history, while she reached the finished line and winning a gold medal for Jamaica in the Olympics. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce two-times champion from Jamaica, bagged a silver medal with 10.74 seconds, and Shericka Jackson won a Bronze medal in 10.76 seconds.
In Tokyo Olympics 2021, the finishing time clocked by Thompson-Herah’s has been recorded as the second-fastest timing in the history of the Olympics. The timing also matched with the timing of the late American Florence Griffith Joyner set.
Due to her Achilles Thompson, Herah was forced in earlier times to withdraw during the Gateshead Diamond League event. Being affected by such problems, she fought back and won the gold medal for Jamaica.
The Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Holness, congratulated Thompson for her glorious victory in the Olympics on his social media where he stated that Elaine Thompson Herah had cemented her name in the record books and the breaking of Florence Griffith Joyner’s 100 Meter Olympic Record-10.61.
The citizens of Jamaica have also shown their immense joy and congratulated Thompson-Herah and appreciated Jamaican athlete’s dedication and hard work to win the gold medal in Tokyo Olympics.
The Jamaican sprinter completed a rare sprint double by winning gold medals in both events at the 2016 Rio Olympics, where she bagged a silver medal in the 4×100 m relay.
Thompson-Herah won a silver medal in the 200 m at the – 2015 World Championships and a gold medal in the 4×100 m relay; she competed in the 100 m at the 2017 & 2019 World Championships achieving fifth and fourth, respectively.
Currently, Thompson-Herah also ranks as the sixth-fastest woman of all time in the 200 m.
