Dust haze advisory expected to lift, chances of moderate showers in SVG

Kingstown, St Vincent and the Grenadines: The SVG meteorologists shared that the people may experience a significant thinning of the Saharan dust concentration on Wednesday, due to an increase in the moisture levels across the country.

The Meteorological reports revealed that the rainfall could decrease with few showers on Thursday night. The winds are forecasted to remain gentle to moderate with 15-25 km/hour breeze. It may occasionally increase to 30-35 km/hour across the island.

As per direction, it will vary between north-east and east south-east. The seas are likely to be moderate in the open waters, with swells spanning between 0.5m – 1.0m to the west of St Vincent and the Grenadines and from 1.0m – 1.8m to the east of the island.

Such conditions refrain the sea-bathers and small-craft operators to exercise due to poor visibility across the marine areas. The concentration of the Saharan Dust is expected to thin-out to slight haze during Thursday.

According to the weather outlook, the weather may remain fair, with chances of a thick-haze night. The meteorologist revealed that the weather conditions may change to cloudy, moderate haze with scattered showers during the afternoon.

The SVG Meteorological Services have issued a dust-haze advisory, last week as they have observed an increase in the Saharan dust. They have cautioned the people of the nation to avoid outdoor activities and remain at their homes.

The people are strictly advised to take necessary precautions to avoid illness such as, drink plenty of water to stay hydrate, eat healthy, practice daily exercise, wear dust masks or face mask and many more.

Noting this, the individuals suffering from any respiratory diseases are suggested to keep inhalers or nasal sprays with themselves while venturing outside homes. The citizens should keep themselves at a distance from the persons of vulnerable groups, as such conditions pose a great challenge to them.

The sea-bathers are encouraged to use on-duty lifeguards in case of emergency. The authorities assured the nationals that they have been implementing every possible measure to control the conditions.
