Dominica under Tropical Storm warning: PM Skerrit
After receiving the information related to the hurricane from Barbados, Meteorological Services Dominica have been placed under the warning

Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit while talking on the issue of the Hurricane Elsa. PM Skerrit stated that Dominica now would be placed under tropical storm warning due to the formation of Hurricane Elsa.
According to the National Hurricane Centre, the Elsa has been moved to the category 1 hurricane. After receiving the information related to the hurricane from Barbados, Meteorological Services Dominica have been placed under the warning. The Elsa increased to 140 miles from its centre, after which the issuance of a tropical storm watch for Dominica.
PM Skerrit said that as the Dominica has been placed under the tropical storm warning. Due to which tropical storm conditions have been expected in Dominica within few hours.
According to the National Disaster plan, the businesses would be suspended immediately on the island. The public has also been advised by the government that to remain home and citizens who have been residing in the prone areas to flooding, landslide, high winds and storm surge should limit their outdoor activities immediately. The government of Dominica urged the citizens to take suitable cautions.
PM Skerrit said that a tropical storm could affect the nation in a similar manner a hurricane might do. All citizens should confirm that they had basic supplies. The government of Dominica would keep the citizens updated, and they should be updated on their radios by the office of Disaster Management and from the National Emergency Plan Organization.
Citizens should remain updated with the verified information from the ODM and should avoid the news from other sources that might create panic.
PM Skerrit highlighted that residence across lesser Antilles has been monitoring the weather system for the past many days. The system developed a tropical storm at 5:00 a.m. On Thursday, July 1, 2021. After which, the islands on Southern Antilles issued warnings on the whole island. All Dominicans should obey the rules issued by ODM and stay safe.
