Dominica: PM Skerrit meets Malgorzata Wasilewska, Head of EU delegation of Eastern Caribbean
Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica- Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, met with the Head of the European Union Delegation to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, the OECS and CARICOM- Malgorzata Wasilewska on May 24.

Dominica: Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica- Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, met with the Head of the European Union Delegation to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, the OECS and CARICOM- Malgorzata Wasilewska on May 24, 2022 (Tuesday).
The Head of the EU delegation is on the official tour to Dominica to attend the commissioning ceremonies for two Regional Emergency Shelters at Castle Bruce and Jimmit, scheduled on May 25, 2022 (Wednesday).
Prime Minister Skerrit took social media and informed, “I met today with HE Malgorzata Wasilewska, Head of the European Union Delegation to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, the OECS and CARICOM.”
“Her Excellency is in Dominica to participate in the commissioning ceremonies for two Regional Emergency Shelters at Castle Bruce and Jimmit on Wednesday,” PM Skerrit added.
The facilities are funded under the ‘European Union 11th EDF State and Resilience Building Contract for Rehabilitation post-Hurricane Maria.’
Prime Minister further extended his gratitude towards the guest delegation for continuously supporting the aspirations of Dominica and helping it in becoming the world’s first climate-resilient nation.
He concluded, “I conveyed our gratitude to the European Union for support of Dominica’s aspirations to become a climate-smart and resilient country.”
Many Dominicans praised this interaction between the delegations, and some also extended thanks to the European Union.
One of the social media users from Dominica commented, “Real progress and leadership,” yet another stated, “Wonderful, Thanks to the EU”. The third one mentioned, “God bless our PM. LONG LIFE. PROMISES are kept with the labour party. LABOURRR.”
Earlier, on May 23, 2022 (Monday), Prime Minister Skerrit received a courtesy call from Lilian Chatterjee, High Commissioner of Canada in Barbados.
Both delegations discussed areas of cooperation between Dominica and Canada, and the strengthening of the partnership in education, climate adaptation and the building of resilient infrastructure, including in the Kalinago Territory.
