Dominica: PM Roosevelt Skerrit shares best wishes to Alick Athanaze for being selected for WI senior men’s team
Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, extends his heartiest congratulations towards Alick Athanaze for being selected in the West Indies senior men’s team.

Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, extends his heartiest congratulations towards Alick Athanaze for being selected in the West Indies senior men’s team. Prime Minister Skerrit said, “Congratulations to Alick Athanaze of Dominica, who has been named to the Senior Men’s West Indies Team!”
His post informed that this is a momentous achievement for young Athanaze, the captain of Windward Islands Volcanoes, who belongs to the community of Grand Bay.
With immense pleasure and pride, Prime Minister Skerrit stated, “The People and Government of Dominica are proud and stand in support of Athanaze as he entered the West Indies team for the current tour of South Africa, which kicks off on February 28.”
In the end, Prime Minister said, “We celebrate with him. Very best wishes for his continued success!”
Furthermore, Government Information Services of Dominica also extended good wishes and stated, “Dominican Alick Athanaze has been named to the West Indies Senior Men’s Cricket Team. Athanaze is part of the 15-member squad to face South Africa in two test matches in South Africa (SA) starting at the end of February.”
Vince Henderson, the parliamentary representative of the Grand Bay constituency, proudly mentioned, “Congratulations Alick Athanaze… We are proud of your rise to the West Indies Senior Men’s Cricket Team.”
Along with this, Windwards Volcanoes also extended congratulations towards the captain. The social media post by the regional cricket team read, “Congratulations to our captain who received his maiden call-up to the West Indies Senior team. Get some LAVA performances.”
West Indies Players’ Association – WIPA’s lead selector, Dr Desmond Haynes, shared a statement about Athanaze’s selection and stated, “Athanaze is one of the young players we have invested in. He showed promise in the CG United Super50 the previous year, then got his first hundred in the West Indies Championship last week.”
