Dominica: Kreyol Basketball Championship returns, set to offer enthralling matches

Kreyol Basketball Championship is all set to return to the island nation from 22^nd August to 25^th August 2024 in Dominica. The event promises to offer all its spectators and players intense matchups, fierce competition, and unforgettable memories.

This prestigious four-day event will bring together top basketball teams from across the Caribbean region for a celebration of sportsmanship and regional unity. It will offer great opportunity for all the basketball enthusiasts to showcase their talent, skills, abilities and techniques.

The Kreyol Basketball Championship is proudly sponsored by Les Express des Iles. And, for the same, the Dominica Amateur Basketball Association has collaborated with Caraïbes Sport & Development Durable. It is a non-profit organization based in Guadeloupe that brings the Kréyol Basketball Championship to the region.

The Championship will start with an exciting opening ceremony on 22^nd August 2024 which will feature a vibrant atmosphere with the nights based on themes, offering unlimited entertainment.

The local artists will set the stage on fire by showcasing their performances in Calypso, Afro-beats, Bouyon, and Cadence. The main motive behind hosting this championship is to build and promote Caribbean connections through sport, benefitting all the generations aging from 7 to 77 years old.

The Kreyol Basketball Championship will not only enhance the sports sector of the country but others as well such as tourism, sport, youth, education and culture in the Caribbean islands and internationally by displaying the diversity and richness of Caribbean diasporas around the world.

It is not only a celebration of basketball but also provides an opportunity to the other Caribbean citizens to engage the community and promote regional solidarity. The championship will consist four rounds of games with the final being played in Dominica every August.

While shedding light on the Kreyol Basketball Championship, the organizer, Marvin Jno-Baptiste stated that the championship offers a crucial platform for the local basketballers to display their skills and talent to restore basketball to its former prominence in the country.

The Kreyol Basketball Championship is a tournament which is held every year with the vision to foster sportsman spirit and unity among Caribbean nations. The event is supported by several regional sponsors and partners who are committed to promoting sports and community development.

Notably, six teams will participate in Kreyol Basketball Championship 2024. Alongside Dominica, three other Caribbean regions will also participate in this competition. The participating teams are, Dr. Darroux PSC Falcons (Dominica); D-Treads Blazers (Dominica); Paix Bouche Super Eagles (Dominica); Wadadli Elite Stingerz (Antigua); Soufriere Kings (Saint Lucia) and CCB (Guadeloupe).
