Dominica: The Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica has announced the latest update on the Morne Jaune Primary School.
The school was officially handed over on May 11, 2022 (Wednesday), which means the students and teachers can now return to the school premises to attend the physical classes.
“Students of the Morne Jaune Primary School are attending classes in new and improved settings. The rehabilitated school plant was formally handed over on Wednesday, May 11,” the Government of Dominica stated while updating about the primary school.
The worth of the project was around EC$1 million. The Government of Canada has provided the funding for the school rehabilitation project through the Caribbean Development Bank as well as the Government of Dominica. The project has been built under the Dominica Climate Resilience and Restoration Project.
“The EC$1 million project was funded by the Government of Canada through the Caribbean Development Bank and the Government of Dominica as part of the Dominica Climate Resilience and Restoration Project,” Dominica Government outlined.
The rehabilitation provided new classroom and administrative blocks, library, cafeteria, auditorium and washroom facilities to the school.
Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit also took social media to share a glimpse of the rebuilt school.
On the same day, May 11 (Wednesday), the government announced that the country has commissioned the rehabilitation of Delices Primary School.
The EC$1.1 million project was funded by the Government of Canada through the Caribbean Development Bank and the Government of Dominica as part of the Dominica Climate Resilience and Restoration Project.
New features included additional classrooms, an early childhood centre, library, auditorium, Home Economics Room and improved washroom facilities.
