Dominica Bike Festival to make summer season exciting and thrilling for bikers

Roseau, Dominica: Dominica is all set to make the summer season even more hot, exciting and thrilling by hosting the first ever Dominica Bike Festival. The three-day event will start from 19th July and will give an opportunity to all the bike riders to showcase stunts, skills and techniques.

The launch ceremony of the first ever Bike Festival was conducted on 20th June at Canefield Airport under the theme “Helmet on the ride on safety is must.” The theme shed light on the importance of wearing helmet while riding which plays a crucial role in preventing any serious brain injury and death.

This festival is being conducted by Dominica Festivals Committee in collaboration with 767 Bike Life that will bring bikers from around the region and beyond for a packed weekend filled with several exciting activities. These activities are designed in a manner which will not only attract large number of tourists but will also give a platform to the local citizens to showcase their talent and creativity.

The entire schedule of events and activities for Bike Festival 2024

• Friday, 19th July: Welcome Party at La Promenade, 4pm at The Factory
• Saturday, 20th July: Wheel’n and Wild’n Bike Show at Canefield Airport, 10am
• Sunday, 21st July: Dominica Bike Day at Island Tour, Meeting Point: Roseau Cruise Ship Berth, 9 am.

Yehifi John, the Senior Sports officer of the Sports Division of Dominica, stated that the bike festival will play a huge role in fostering the natural beauty of the island nation. He expressed happiness and said that it was not just an event but an opportunity for them to showcase the magnificent beauty of the island nation. He noted that they are making continuous efforts to fulfill their commitment to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.

The Sports Division mentioned that the bike festival will enhance the overall fitness of the participants as well as elevate the sports sector of the nation to greater heights. The bike festival is also a great opportunity to build social interaction as it is a time for people to extend support to each other and strengthen the community of riders who are passionate about bike riding.

As per Discover Dominica Authority, the first-ever Bike Festival will also witness the surge in sports tourism of the nation which will play a huge role in fulfilling the agenda of Dominica’s Tourism Ministry of welcoming 500,000 tourists by 2030.
