PM Pierre and Minister Norbert fulfills promise, inaugurates long-awaited Micoud Jetty and washroom facility

Prime Minister of Saint Lucia Philip J. Pierre along with his cabinet colleagues joined Jeremiah Norbert, Parliamentary Representative for Micoud North and residents of the area for the opening of the long-awaited Micoud Jetty and Washroom Facility that would significantly benefit the fishermen of the area.

PM Pierre and Minister Norbert fulfills promise, inaugurates long-awaited Micoud Jetty and washroom facility

Saint Lucia: Prime Minister of Saint Lucia Philip J. Pierre, along with his cabinet colleagues, joined Jeremiah Norbert, Parliamentary Representative for Micoud North, and residents of the area for the opening of the long-awaited Micoud Jetty and Washroom Facility that would significantly benefit the fishermen of the area.

The day of June 7, 2024, marked a significant moment for the fisherfolks of Micoud North as the first-ever jetty facility was installed.

Sharing the news PM Pierre took to his social media and wrote that the facility will provide relief, stating “This long-awaited jetty and washroom facility will bring much needed relief to the people of this constituency, particularly the fisherfolk by providing an upgraded working environment for them to earn a living.”

PM Pierre further shared that the jetty project will upgrade the working condition of the fishermen and enhance their earnings for a better living.

Further, PM Pierre congratulated Jeremiah Norbert, the representative for Micoud North for delivering the promise he made. PM Pierre noted that the “Promise Made, Promise Delivered”. PM Pierre also encouraged him to continue serving the people.

Addressing the gathering PM Pierre highlighted, the condition the fishers were going through that he witnessed during his 2021 visit. The administration was aware about the need of the jetty and the PM Pierre led administration fulfilled it.

Expressing his happiness on providing the fisherman with what they needed for years, Jeremiah Nobert, Parliamentary Representative shared that during the campaign, “I promised the fisherfolk that under my representation, their plights and agony would not go unnotice and that I would do my best to resolve their problems”.

Minister Nobert further shared that the fishermen shared their problems which they dealt with while finishing their work late night, they had to enter cold waters and had no place to secure their boats.

Adding to this the minister stated that, he promised the fishermen to take them out of the plight they have been facing for years and June 7, Minister Nobert was honoured and elated to finally open the state of the art Jetty and washroom facility for the fisherfolk in Micoud.

Minister Nobert expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre for prioritising the need of the residents of Micoud region and keeping them first and delivering the promised the government made during campaign. He ended his address by thanking PM Pierre for supporting this project from Day 1.


Happy and elated the fishermen of Micoud shared their generous feelings of gratitude with the administration present there at the opening of the Micoud Jetty. One fisherman shared that this is the most important thing for this community. The fisherman further added that they have been walking up and down for years without jetty and had nothing to keep fishes they caught and it was a sad thing.

While the other shared, we have been suffering for 50 years, and now the community is happy that finally someone kept their promise. The community thanked PM Pierre and Representative Jeremiah Nobert for fluffing the promise and delivering them with what they needed the most.
