Prior to that, Tibetan Buddhist monks in Shimla performed the traditional Cham (Lama Dance) to honour the Guru Padmasambhava’s birthday.
At the Dorjeedak Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Panthaghati, close to Shimla, a large number of monks have gathered.
Tibetan Buddhist monks prayed for compassion and world peace through these rites. The monks and other Tibetans prayed for Guru Padmasambhava before the dancing performance.

Through Lama Dance, the Buddhist monks acted out the drama of Lord Padmasambhava’s eight reincarnations arriving and being welcomed in this place.
Monks dress in masks and traditional headgear and caps as they perform this dance to traditional Tibetan musical instruments. The local Buddhist monks think that this is done to honour Guru Padmasambhava.
