Dominica: Cuba and Dominica have signed a new Cooperation Agreement. It has happened between the Ministry of Public Health of the Republic of Cuba and the Ministry of Health, Welfare and New Investment in Health of Dominica.
The purpose is to boost the health system of both nations. The contract has approved by the Cuban Ambassador to Dominica, Ulises Arranz Fernández, and the Minister of Health-Dr Irving McIntyre. The contract took place in the assembly hall of the Dominica-China Friendship hospital, Roseau, the capital of the nation.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Health Minister of Dominica appreciated the Cuban collaboration implemented in health matters during all these years, without interruption, notwithstanding the limitations inflicted on Cuba by the blockade of the management of The USA; as well as the training of human resources, which they stated, has provided to the growth of Dominica. They also discussed the excellent state of relations between the two nations.
The Ambassador of Cuba acknowledged and stated, ” Cuba will always be appreciative for the assistance it has had from Dominica in the battle to end the blockade.” He made an account of the collaboration in health in this nation since it began in 1997 and announced that with the new contract, the teaching is developed, by continuing to medical assistance, education.
He stated that the signing of this agreement is part of the activities planned to continue developing excellent bilateral relations and celebrating the 25th anniversary of strategic ties between the two nations.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Business & Relations with the Diaspora, Dr Kenneth Darroux; the-Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Health,-Welfare & New Investment in Health, were present at the event.
Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, José Durabio Moros Savelles & the Minister Counselor of that diplomatic representation, Luis José Quijada García; -the Consul of the Republic of Cuba, Miriam Martín Posada; -the Head of the Permanent Cuban Brigade of Health Collaborators, -Dr Isolina López Cardoso; -a broad representation of Cuban collaborators & senior officials & health professionals from Dominica were also present in the occasion.
