Roseau: The Caribbean island Dominica has recorded fresh 135 COVID-19 infections on Friday, January 14, 2022; the Ministry of Health shared the data in the report. The island country currently has 647 active cases of the COVID-19 virus.
Among the new COVID patients, five were tested with RT-PCR testing, and Rapid Antigen Testing tested the remaining 130.
The report’s data further highlights that in total, 93 persons have been declared fit and were discharged from the hospital facilities on Friday, taking the toll of total recoveries to 7,262 as of January 14, 2022.
In total forty-eight individuals lost their lives to the deadliest virus, to date, as per the data shared by health ministry in its report. Meanwhile, since the COVID-19 pandemic emerged in Dominica, a total of 7957 individuals contracted the deadliest COVID-19 virus.
The healthcare facilities across the island have conducted a total of 136754 tests of the COVID-19 till Friday, of which 32640 individuals were tested for the virus with the RT-PCR testing method, whereas in total, 104114 tests were conducted of the Rapid Antigen Testing method.
The update report of January 14, 2022, in terms of the vaccination statistics, nites that, so far, there are a total of 31038 individuals who have taken their first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine. On the other hand, there are a total of 28737 persons in Dominica who have taken their required amount of WHI-approved COVID vaccine jabs and are now fully immunised against the mutant.

The Ministry of Health continues to advise the general public to take their jabs of the vaccine and strictly follow the COVID-19 health protocols and the guidelines put in place by the Dominican government for their safety.
