Castries, Saint Lucia: from a batch of 109 tests conducted the Ministry of Health received confirmation of one confirmed case of COVID-19, taking the diagnosed cases number to 275.
A 35-year-old (case #275) female from the Castries district was seen at a community respiratory clinic, where she was tested for COVID-19, awaiting for her test results the individual was quarantined. So far no epidemiological link has been established for this case. Meanwhile, investigations are on-going by the contact tracing team, and as per protocol, the individual was sent into isolation.
Six new recovery cases of COVID-19 were also accounted on Dec 13, 2020, with which 203 recoveries have been recorded to date, and the number of total active cases currently in-country has been brought to 68.
As St Lucia celebrate National Day, the nation urged all dwellers to remain on alert and to keep protecting the health and safety of their families and vicinity. Citizens were requested to keep movements to its minimum level, avoiding social gatherings and other activities which will yield greater vulnerability.
Health Ministry requested people to follow the guidelines which have been given by the ministry.
Ministry urged people to wear the masks at all the given times and use alcohol-based sanitizers to clean the hand frequently.
Maintaining a six feet physical distance from others and using a bleach solution to sanitize frequently touched surfaces and frequently handled objects have been suggested.
It is imperative to avoid any contact with other people who show any symptoms of flu. If anyone is experiencing such symptoms, keep away from others and seek medical care at the closest community respiratory clinic.
