Concacaf W Championship 22: Alanna Finn will not participate in upcoming two games due to injuries

Dominica: In the upcoming football series – the Concacaf W Championship 22 World Cup qualifiers, the Women’s football team of Commonwealth of Dominica will participate with defender Alanna Finn. The 18-year-old defender will not play the at least first two games – against Turks & Caicos at home on April 6th and Nicaragua in Managua on April 12th.

It has been learned that Finn underwent surgery to repair a severely ruptured right Achilles tendon. Currently, she is in the recovery phase at home in Washington DC. She got the injury in the 10th minute of the Dominica versus Trinidad match, hosted at the Lenora national stadium in West Demerara. According to the physicians, Finn will be fully recovered by late fall following intensive physical rehabilitation.

Prior to the surgery, she underwent discomfort, and due to the injury, her right leg was swollen, and the pain was excruciating. At that time, she stated that “I am very disappointed but accepted that these injuries were a reality of any contact sport.”

She further revealed that she was enthusiastically looking forward to participating in the friendly match against Turks & Caicos and Nicaragua held in Anguilla on March 26.

Meanwhile, the preparation for the CONCACAF W Qualifiers has commenced, and the Dominica Senior National Women’s Football Team has returned for training on Tuesday afternoon.

In the latest trends, Dominica confronted two consecutive defeats, firstly against Guyana and second against Trinidad and Tobago. The Dominican team has been optimistic that they will be hoping for greater fortunes in round two during the match against Turks and Caicos island on April 6 and Nicaragua on April 12.

The Assistant Coach, Rosalia Registe, has hoped that the ladies will improve in the upcoming performances as they have been preparing hard.

For now, Dominica has been at the 4th position in Group F.
