Caribbean Bar Association stands in support of Cubans and Haitians

This time the Caribbean Bar Association had stood up for the right to live and enjoy the life of the people of Cuba And Haiti. These days Cuba has been going through protests by the countrymen against the communist government, and on the other hand, Haiti, where country has fallen deep into the political cyclone and economic instability after the assassination of their President Jovenel Moise.

In a release, the bar association said it “stands in solidarity with our brothers and sisters, in Cuba and Haiti, suffering from grave human rights violations, racial injustice, political and economic disenfranchisement, and other social inequalities.”

The CBA stated that as the people of Cuba had been involved in large-scale peaceful protests, CBA would be standing in support of countrymen’s right to freedom in their pursuit of political, economic, and social advancement. CBA echo their cries of “Libertad!” in the quest for their right to life, liberty, security, freedom of speech, and of the press. CBA had condemned the Cuban government’s brutal response to peaceful protests and universally condemned the use of state-sponsored violence and the criminalization of peaceful civil disobedience in opposition to human rights abuses and violations. CBA similarly stands with Haiti’s people as they face an uncertain future in the wake of President Jovenel Moïse’s brutal assassination. Haiti’s future must be chosen by the people of Haiti as they have the right to freely pursue their political, economic, and social development, free of governmental intimidation and oppression.

CBA highlighted that they knew the road ahead would be long and difficult. The Haitian people’s determination in freeing themselves from the grip of colonial France that not only transformed the geopolitics of the New World but also provided an authoritative example of what action of unity and strong determination could achieve. CBA stand with Haiti, not only in mourning the death of President Moïse but also in the lasting hope that the promise of 1804 would begin to be delivered through economic and political stability.
