Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Canada Cricket Team received a warm welcome at the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis on Monday, May 13th, 2024. The team is reported to engage in friendly matches with the island nation’s local team before competing in the biggest tournament of the year, the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. These local games are being conducted to boost sports tourism in the island nation.

Minister of Sports of St. Kitts and Nevis Samal Duggins made a special visit to Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw International Airport to extend a warm welcome to the team competing in such a prestigious tournament.

The Minister shared glimpses of his meeting with the team on his official Facebook account and stated, “It’s a privilege to host such esteemed guests as they prepare for the prestigious tournament, set to kick off on June 1st and run through June 29th.”

By conducting such local games, the Minister of Sports, Samal Duggins, shared his vision to enhance the island nation’s local talent and foster a spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship among all the country’s players.

He also shed light on promoting the island nation as a hub for sports tourism, with a vision to attract large number of tourists from around the globe to experience the passion and excitement of cricket in the unparalleled and magnificent beauty of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Moreover, these local games are also a great opportunity for the players of St Kitts and Nevis to display their talent, abilities, skills, and techniques. Such local tournaments open doors to several opportunities for the players.

The six Caribbean nations will host the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 which includes, Dominica, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados. The Caribbean nations are taking continuous efforts to promote Caribbean nation as a sports tourism destination.
