BMS shares mix of sunshine with few showers in Barbados

Barbados Weather Update: Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) shared a weather update that people may experience a mix of sunshine and clouds with a few scattered light showers on December 23, 2024.

A synopsis could be seen as a ridge pattern that is rebuilding across the island, and as per the haze outlook, it stated that a layer of slight dust haze would be visible across the island.

Winds Forecast

Winds are forecasted to be gentle easterly to east- southeasterly breezes that range between 20 to 30 km/hour (12 to 19 mph).

Marine Forecast

General Swell Information: Seas are forecasted to be smooth to moderate in open water, with swells ranging from 1.0 to 2.0 meters, which is equal to 3 to 7 ft across Barbados.

Dust-Haze Forecast

BMS has given a ‘Yellow alert’ to dust haze as a layer of slight dust haze will be visible across the island. The chances of forecasting in Barbados are 80 per cent.

Light wind speeds, however, encourage localized activity across Barbados and the Windwards, allowing for improved weather conditions.

The air quality is generally acceptable for the majority of people, but the sensitive groups may face few to moderate symptoms for long-term exposure.

It is to be noted that there is no high chance of isolated thunderstorms or flash flooding in either the shelter or non-sheltered areas.

Weather update: Sunday

It is forecasted that moisture on the southwestern periphery of the low-level ridge is fostered by an upper-level jet, which will generate occasional cloudiness and a few passing showers.

There is also an expectation of slightly hazy conditions across the region.

General Weather Update

As December is a transition month, there is a 43 per cent chance of a perfect sunny day and a 57 per cent chance of experiencing a blend of sunshine and clouds with an average of 42mm of rainfall in Barbados.

In addition, during this month, the weather is a bit cooler, which could reach a high of 29 degrees Celsius during the day and dip to a pleasant 23 degrees Celsius at night.
