Barbados records 151 new COVID-19 cases

Barbados: The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory recorded 151 new coronavirus positive cases for Tuesday, February 16 in Barbados. 

These coronavirus cases include specimens from over the last nine days.

The laboratory administered 1,856 tests on Tuesday. Fifty-five persons have redeemed, bringing the number of active coronavirus cases to 826.

There was one death, a 73-year-old man with comorbidities, who passed away after exhausting five days at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility. The number of people who have died from coronavirus illness is now 29.

The 151 new coronavirus cases involve 97 women and 54 men. Four of them had already been at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility undergoing evaluation to determine whether their positive PCR test outcome showed that they were, in fact, newly coronavirus positive or whether they had coronavirus in the past and were no longer contagious.

The 147 other coronavirus cases include 134 Barbadians and 11 non-residents.

The total number of individuals diagnosed as positive at Her Majesty’s Prisons Dodds is 363. Of these, 361 have redeemed, and the remaining two patients are included in the active coronavirus cases.

Barbados has reported 2,608 confirmed coronavirus cases, 1,187 females and 1,421 males – and 1,753 persons have redeemed.

The public health laboratory has so far finished 117,669 tests.

There were 2,119 individuals vaccinated on Tuesday as part of the National Vaccination Programme for coronavirus.

Till now, a total of 6,683 vaccinations have been finished, 3,710 women and 2,973 men.

On the other hand, the coronavirus and dengue viruses have been employing both traditional and non-traditional means.

Influencers are being used on social media, but it is the voice of Prime Minister Mia Mottley, citizens and residents are hearing from trucks moving through the communities.

The message urges Barbadians to continue the fight against the viral illness. Fighting and defeating coronavirus is the fundamental goal of every country’s leader.
