The much anticipated 39th Barbados International Hockey Festival shall be held between the 18th and 24th of August 2024, at the Sir Garfield Sobers Sports Complex, Wildey, St Michael.
The festival was conceived in 1985 by Mike Owen, an ardent hockey fan; Tony Cozier, the illustrious ex- cricket commentator; and Winsmore Humphrey, who was the then President of the Barbados Hockey Federation.
The main goals of the festival have been achieved slowly over the years and the event has now transformed into the largest and most significant international carnival in the whole of the western hemisphere.
Barbados International Hockey Festival has grown in popularity and has become an annual event, attracting teams from major parts of the globe, further being noted for high, but equally for fair spirit of the competition. Comprising of several factor, from competitive hockey games to socials and dance and the exotic location of Barbados, the festival is one that cannot be missed by hockey lovers and tourists.
