Bad administrator: Allen Chastanet calls St Lucians with demeaning words

St Lucia: Former Prime Minister Allen Chastanet has been in the headlines for his impolite, rude and uncivilized behaviour during his tenure as Prime Minister of the country.

During his term, which is not considered a great time for St Lucia, he insulted the citizens of St Lucia by calling them with demeaning words such as jackasses,” “mendicants,” “barking dogs,” “niggas,” “single mothers of criminals,” and many more.

At that time, many media houses slammed Chastanet by mockingly comparing him with a King, prince and some other species of royally entitled human.

There is no official voice clip of Chastanet saying or calling “niggas.” Still, many St Lucians have archives, live or direct colour, which identifies him marching on the streets of St Lucia, along with an individual carrying a placard, which shouted “NICE: Niggas In Control of Employment.”

While marching against the Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) administration in the year 2016, Allen Chastanet, a foreign-born politician, displayed his views about the Black Saint Lucian ministers and other top officials of the (SLP) government administration. Chastanet termed them all as “Niggas In Control of Employment.”

He effortlessly ignored the employment boosting initiatives by the governing government, such as NICE – National Initiative for Creation of Employment as well as STEP – Short Term Employment Programme. These healthy initiatives have put St Lucians to work in many important areas of national infrastructural upkeep and development.

During the 20th and 21st centuries, St Lucian has also witnessed a decline in the education sector. This background in the educational sector was seen in the country because of the mismanagement, and the sector received less attention from the country’s administration. If we compare the situation in St Lucia, which some neighbouring countries, in 1974, for instance, Barbados had a population of around 190,000 and about 35 secondary schools. At the same time, St Lucia had just four (4) secondary schools, with a population of about 150,000 citizens.

The above figures clearly show that Barbados’ literacy rate was eight times that of St Lucia; because of these setbacks presently, the literacy rate of Barbados has been touching 100 percent and St Lucia is only at 40 percent.

According to several reports, the Saint Lucia Labour Party established many primary and secondary schools and is the only political party in St Lucia with a proven track record of solidarity with the plight of the broad working masses of the country, The SLP, which had a quest to create employment opportunities for thousands of Saint Lucians, is the same political party that Allen Chastanet sees as the Party of “Niggas In Control of Employment.”

Many incidents during his administration showed that he was not a great choice to be Prime Minister of a country. Chastanet was sworn in as the PM in 2016; despite getting a chance from the St Lucians, he was busy serving his own pockets and building a multi-million business.

During his five-year tenure, he neglected all his duties and responsibilities and the country only faced debts.

In recent times, the former Prime Minister has been showing “so-called” concern, but it was neglected by the residents, who started pointing him out over his administration’s work in the growth of the economy.

Earlier, a St Lucian, on condition of anonymity, pointed out that Chastanet has been trying to damage the country severely. The source stated that Chastanet, in the five years, neither contributed towards development nor benefitted any sector of the country and is now showing “fake” concern to save the country.

Furthermore, the source called Chastanet’s administration “a curse” for St Lucia’s culture, community, and development.
