Arajet to connect Dominican Republic to US and wider Caribbean

Dominican Republic: Junta de Aviacion Civil – (JAC) has given a green signal to Dominican capital airline Arajet (previously known as Flycana) to fly from its base to a total of 30 other destinations, as the Airline plans to commence its services from the first quarter of 2022. 

The new destinations to which the Airline will start its services also include: the United States, Cuba, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, the Dutch Caribbean and French Caribbean Antilles.

At present, the Airline is preparing its Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft for the service, which will fly the courses from Santo Domingo’s Las Americas International Airport. Although the Airline yet has not released its flying schedule. 

Airlines’ official website cites, “Very soon you will find in Arajet the best ultra-low-cost airfares, to travel to or from the Dominican Republic with lower prices”. 

About Arajet: 

Flycana airline was renamed as – Arajet in the month of September this year. Flycana was previously known as Dominican Wings, which was founded in the year 2014 and became operational from the year of 2015. 

It is a low-cost airline based in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. In the initial period, the airlines commenced charter services flights between the Dominican Republic to Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago and Argentina for and on behalf of tour operators, after receiving AOC from civil aviation authority. 

Then in the year on June 28, 2017, an announcement was made by the Avion Express (a Lithuanian ACMI and aircraft leasing operator) that it had sold its 65% stake in Dominican Wings to the President of the company – Victor Pacheco. After the announcement, the company president took complete charge of the Airline. 

While in 2018, the Airline transit its charter operations to schedule low-cost flights, and then in 2019, an announcement was made by the company that it signed an agreement with – Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI over the management of Santo Domingo Las Américas International Airport as its base.
