Antigua and Barbuda claimed the Nation’s Cup Trophy, which is a part of the Caribbean Dinghy Championship and is scored through the CHIP 3 High Point Scoring System.

Antigua and Barbuda wins title of 2024 Caribbean Dinghy Championship

Antigua and Barbuda became the winner of the Caribbean Dinghy Championship 2024 and earned this prestigious title by showcasing their exceptional sailing skills throughout the tournament.

The Caribbean Dinghy Championship 2024 is a sailing competition which took place in Simpson Bay, St. Maarten from 25th to 27th October, 2024. This event brought sailors from all over the Caribbean region to compete in a weekend full of dinghy championship.

The team defended their title, defeating 7 other Caribbean nations and maintaining the streak of winning which was started by them from 2018. The years in which, the countries coveted the title includes, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023 and now 2024.

In this competition, several teams participated and competed in around 15 races. Each participating team gave tough competition to each other, but Antigua turned out to be the best amongst all.

The fifth consecutive win by Antigua and Barbuda shed light on the commitment and dedication of the country towards enhancing the reputation of the country in the sailing sector of the Caribbean region.

Antigua and Barbuda claimed the Nation’s Cup Trophy, which is a part of the Caribbean Dinghy Championship and is scored through the CHIP 3 High Point Scoring System. According to this system, Antigua and Barbuda topped the points table, claiming 4432 points.

They were followed by Sint Maarten and St. Martin, claiming second and third positions with 4260 and 3942 points respectively. Also, Trinidad and Tobago and St Kitts and Nevis managed to make it to the top five, securing fourth and fifth positions respectively.

As per the details, Antigua and Barbuda was represented by 6 sailors. The sailors that participated in the championship include Carrack Jones- Sailing 4.7 Laser (ILCA 4), Ozani Lafond – Laser Radial (ILCA 7), Shanoy Malone – Laser Standard (ILCA 6), Tyden Jones- Optimist and Patrick Greensmith and Alistair Knoblauch-RS Quest.
