Antigua and Barbuda Sports Fishing Tournament to be season's biggest marine event

A new surge of great excitement is to sweep into the country of Antigua and Barbuda, as the Francis Nunes Jr Memorial Tournament will join forces with Best in the West, making the tournament one excellent event.

This event is to specifically target the nation’s success in the sports fishing community. The location of the fusion tournament will be the world-class Falmouth Harbour Marina, on October 19th, 2024.

This tournament offers an open challenge to both local and foreign fishing teams as any team can enrol in the activities, with the entrance fees to be $500 for each team.

Competitors have to register online, and by 18th October, 6 pm, all payments have to be done to confirm entry. Participating in the tournament is even more exciting as the lines go in at 6 am to come out at 3 pm, with the weigh-in closes exactly at 4:30 pm.

With prizes over $5,000 in cash and bespoke trophies at stake, teams have much to fight for. Most outstandingly, a cash prize of $2,000 goes to the largest Wahoo caught, and this makes the event even more thrilling than ever.

Since teams leave from any port but return back to Falmouth Harbour Marina, there is surely action that will surely be competitive as well as entertaining, for the spectators.

The competition isn’t just about fishing, it’s much more, as there’s something for everyone. From 2pm, top local DJs and bands will get the marina grooving with good music. Local dishes will be sold at the food stalls.

Beverages will be provided aplenty at the bar. Fresh seafood, directly from the tournament fisheries, will also be available for public sale. It will also be a great chance to buy some of the freshest fish in town.

Some of the major highlights of the day would include the Grace Cooking Competition: teams of four persons will come on to light up their grills and try to outdo the judges’ expectations. With a sponsor such as Grace Foods, this event offers a $1,000 prize to the winning team. There will be some of the best grilling talent in the island to display various Caribbean flavours in this highly anticipated event.

The combination of two legendary tournaments makes the event for 2024 bigger and better than ever, whether you’re a fishing enthusiast or just looking for a fun day out with family and friends.

This is something that definitely should not be missed as it is the Francis Nunes Jr. Tournament that meets the Best in the West for the biggest ever fishing tournament in the region.
