Antigua and Barbuda: PM Gaston Browne attends Ground Breaking Ceremony of the Aquatic Centre
The Office of the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda has recently shared an update regarding the ‘Ground Breaking Ceremony of the Aquatic Centre Sir Novelle Richards Academy,’ which was held on December 14, 2022 (Wednesday).

Antigua and Barbuda: The Office of the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda has recently shared an update regarding the ‘Ground Breaking Ceremony of the Aquatic Centre Sir Novelle Richards Academy,’ which was held on December 14, 2022 (Wednesday).
According to the update shared by the OPM, this project will feature a 25m Competition Pool, Warm-up Pool, Administration Building, Spectator Stands, Gym, Concession Areas, Changing Rooms, Bathrooms and Laundry.
The ceremony was attended and remarked by Daryll S Matthew, Minister of Education and Sports, Dean Jonas, Parliamentary Representative for St George and President of Antigua and Barbuda Swimming Federation, Dr Derek Marshall.
This project, in Tomlinson’s, has been overviewed by Chad Knight Alexander, an Architect.
Daryll Matthew, Sports Minister, outlined that the discussion and planning of the project started in the year 2018. He added that the location and specs of the project were decided after consultation with various stakeholders, including the Swimming Federation.
This aquatic centre has been termed as one of its kind in the twin-island country of Antigua and Barbuda. According to the government of the nation, the centre will offer the capacity to host local, regional and international competitions.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne gathered praise from people living in Antigua and Barbuda. Many took the comment section and lauded the PM for his efforts and work for the development as well as growth of the nation and its people.
One of the users noted, “This is really impressive, Mr Prime Minister. You’re a TRUE leader, and we, as African Caribbean Millennials, are anticipating building a working relationship with your government.” Another stated, “I am so happy about this and look forward to a speedy completion.” The third one mentioned that this project was “definitely needed” for Antigua and Barbuda.
