Antigua and Barbuda Athletes Shine in Commonwealth Youth Games
Antigua Barbuda Athletic Association – ABAA, the governing body for all Athletics of the nation, has shared a glimpse of the athletes performing at the Commonwealth Youth Games.

St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda: Antigua Barbuda Athletic Association – ABAA, the governing body for all Athletics of the nation, has shared a glimpse of the athletes performing at the Commonwealth Youth Games.
ABAA outlined that the ladies of Antigua and Barbuda have advanced to the 100m finals at the Commonwealth Youth Games. “This is a big achievement for our ladies,” noted the Athletics Association.
While sharing the highlights, it stated:
Geolyna Dowdye competing in semifinals 2, finished 2nd in a time of 11.73s to qualify for the finals.
LaNica Locker finished 3rd in the semifinals 3 in a time of 11.69s to qualify for the finals.
“Congratulations to both ladies. Let’s go, ladies; one more round to go, and that’s the finals which come up at 6:55 pm,” it further conveyed.
Additionally, it shared more good news and informed that just like our ladies, both of the under-18 males have advanced to the finals of the 100 m.
It mentioned:
Kasiya Daley, competing in semifinals 1, finished 2nd in a time of 10.74s to qualify for the finals.
Dwayne Flemming competing in semifinals two finished 3rd in a time of 10.81s to qualify for the finals.
Across the three semifinals, it was the top 2 and the next two best times that made up the 8 for the finals.
Further, it motivated the champions and said, “One more round, guys. Championships round.”
In addition to this, it outlined that the sprinters of Antigua and Barbuda have taken it to the track on the morning of August 7, 2023, in the 100 m heats. The athletes will run three rounds of 100 m, heats this morning starting at 9 am, semifinals at 4 pm and finals at 6 pm.
“Our girls come up first in heat 4, with features LaNica Locker and heat five which features Geolyna Dowdye. Our males also come up in heats 4 and 5 as well with Dwayne Flemming in heat four and Kasiya Daley in heat 5. The first 4 in each heat move on to the semifinals,” the association mentioned.
“Wishing our athletes all the very best,” it wished additionally.
